Our founder
Eloquence Editorial was founded by writer, editor and copywriter Lisa Russell. Lisa is a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders. She has over 5 years of writing and editorial experience in the private sector and a further 5 years in the academic sector. Having worked as a development editor and training course writer for some time, Lisa decided to spread her wings and launch her own editorial services. Thus Eloquence Editorial was born.
An editorial service with a difference
Lisa wanted to create an editorial service with a difference. At the heart of Eloquence Editorial is the core belief that we are partners with our clients. We take that partnership seriously and we will work hard to understand what makes you and your business tick before ever making a change to your documents. More importantly, we believe in you. We will do everything we can to contribute to your success and give you a head start over your competitors. This cornerstone underpins everything Eloquence stands for, everything that Lisa had envisaged for our services.
Background and experience
Lisa studied English Literature at Warwick University and graduated with first class honours before going on to gain a master’s degree in Information Management at the University of the West of England. She published her thesis in the Journal of Librarianship and Information Science before moving into her post as Development Editor for the emerging e-learning provider which she helped to found, Laser Learning. There she developed and oversaw more than 800 online lessons in childcare, education support, playwork and health and social care. She was also one of a team of four authors asked to develop teaching resources under her maiden name (Sutlieff) for Heinemann’s Training Resource Packs for the Children and Young People’s Workforce. Lisa has written regularly for industry press in the childcare and information sectors as well as having written copy for all kinds of company literature including press releases, awards nominations, company brochures, websites, and more.
Lisa enjoys taking on projects across a wide range of industries and business types. She retains her key strengths in copywriting, editing and proofreading content for small to medium-sized businesses, start-up companies and sole traders, having been part of teams that have launched a number of successful new businesses. She is well versed in the workings of the publishing industry from several different perspectives, having started her working life as a bookseller (Children’s Books specialist) and completed various experience placements in a large literary agency, editorial and publicity posts before spending time as a qualified academic librarian. Lisa then became a published and peer-reviewed author in her own right.
Lisa has a portfolio of over 50 articles on online magazine site Suite 101, where she first began her forays into online writing, and where she enjoyed the post of Indie Music Features Writer.
And finally…
Lisa lives with her husband Richard in the leafy green county of Berkshire, England. On a personal level she is committed to encouraging new authors, pursuing her own creative projects (such as creative character blogging site The Floor’s Yours) and eradicating stray apostrophes and poor spelling wherever she can. She is a self-confessed bookworm, budding pianist and loves nothing more than getting involved, on stage and off, in her local amateur theatre group.
Lisa encourages your writing-related queries, comments and feedback. Follow Lisa’s Eloquence Blog, or like us on Facebook, to become part of our community. Lisa and her team can be hired to write, edit or proofread content for both print and online publications. For more details please look at our Services pages.
