Our founder Lisa Russell has had a variety of work experiences in the publishing industry, including editorial work, publicity work and a stint working on the unsolicited manuscripts desk (or ‘Haystack’) of a large literary agency. She also worked as a bookseller for 6 years and has gone on to become a qualified librarian. Underpinning these professional experiences is her first class degree in English Literature from the University of Warwick. As a bookseller Lisa was on the reading list for a major publishing house, which involved reading proofs and returning her comments. She is a voracious reader with an uncanny ability to choose new reads for friends, family and business associates. She knows books, she knows the literary value of books, and she knows books that sell.
Eloquence Editorial is now able to offer a manuscript review and commentary service for authors, literary scouts, literary agents, and publishers. Lisa will thoroughly read your material and produce an in-depth opinion report outlining the manuscript’s strengths, weaknesses, areas for improvement and her belief in its potential.
This service may be of interest to publishers and literary agents seeking initial, constructive feedback on a manuscript being considered for publication, or who are at the proof stage and seeking feedback for marketing purposes. It may also be helpful for new authors who are lacking confidence in their written work or who are otherwise seeking an objective opinion prior to submission.
Lisa’s particular personal strengths are in the following genres:
- Popular fiction
- Literary fiction
- Children’s and teen fiction
- British history
